Swinburne Choir Orientation

Last saturday, Swinburne Choir Club performed "The Phantom of the Opera" during the March intake orientation. Unimaginable? Yeap! It was also my first experience to perform with the choir group on stage. We practiced for 3-4 days before the actual day. Frankly speaking, i'm not talented in singing. But i do enjoy singing all this while. Our choir conducter, Irene Yong (Smk Batu lintang Choir's apprentice wor...), did a marvellous job in training everyone of us to sing well and harmonize the song. I'm in the tenor section, and i received a lot of comments that i sang too loud during the practice. ErrGh.. Is not that i'm singing too loud, is just that you guys sing too soft... right kwan yang and aldrin?

Kinda like the spirit of our choir members. Could sense some of our members have thrown in a lot of their effort and energy during the practice section. Many of them who are rookies in singing, are willing to humble themselve to learn despite of their animals' voices, which includes me. **Cough cough**

During the actual day, i thought that we will perform infront of 50-60 new students only. But... What!! i'm wrong! We had to perform infront of more than 150 students!! Gossh..!! Excited but yet i'm nervous too! Johnson has stage-fright too ok. After thousands of practice, i believed that everyone were well-prepared, except for our tenor part. We always forgot the accurate tune for our intro..Ahhh..Ahh... During the singing presentation, standing infront of the millions and millions of audience, i'm NERVOUS! Have a feeling like singing in Sydeny Opera House. Ahemm... But i did admit that I was out of tune half way through the song. But what can i do? Yea, you're right! I were still acting cool.

My position in the choir club is not only singing, but i am known as the "durian-seller" too. Using my gifting to attract a lot of new members. Choir club slogan " If you can talk, you can sing!" thinked up by Johnson. Amazingly, 36 new contacts signed which included some of the international brothers. Praise God! I could sense that most of the clubs were envy of the numbers of new students visiting our choir table. Haha.. what to do? ...work hard then! haha..

Check these out!

One of my dialogue to attract people joining our club,

Johnson : " I used to sing like a frog before i joined this choir club, but after i joined i sing..."
Aldrin: " sing like an Elephant !!! "..
What! Aldrin wong!

**Here's the video of our presentation. Enjoy watching.**

Although we did not perform with best vocal voice, but with days of practice, i believed that all of us did perform the best from our heart. Two things that i have captured, "1) Sing it with all of your heart. 2)Enjoy singing". Continue to keep up the work! This is not the end yet, but a wonderful start for us to build up the spirit of singing. More to come! All glory to God. God loves and bless you!

"A journey of a thousand mile, begins with a single step."

Tagged

So Tagged..

Tagged by : Weiliang, Jacq, Eric, Keith, Avery, Judieth & Aldrin.

Each one starts out by telling 6 weird things about themselves. People who get tagged need to write (in their own blog) weird things as well and state the rules clearly. In the end, you need to choose 6 people to be tagged and list their names. After you do that, leave each of them a comment letting them know you tagged them and the cycle goes on.

**So-so, just to make sure that i'm innocent, I'm not the kind that likes to forward "kindy" messages(in friendster) with questions such as, how old am i now? What are you doing now? ** I'm blameless k.

6 weird things about JOHNSON. Unlike some other bloggers who wrote 6 common things about themselves. Duh~~ So, I’m going to write 6 proper and accurate WEIRD things. Do enjoy reading this. Cheers!

1. I dislike to eat KUEH TIAW. Don’t ask me why. Just to disquiet you, I never even finished a bowl of KUEH TIAW YET. I know there’s lots of Kueh Tiaw addicts out there, please don’t stone me ok. For me, Kueh Tiaw is just like arr………yackii…..But I like Kueh Chap.

2. I just can’t stand seeing old-aged people sitting or walking alone. It makes me become so melancholy and downhearted even when i’m in the mood of joy. Sad sad. May God bless and guide them.

3. I will not watch the same movie for the second time even it’s top-rated in Hollywood.

4. Once I played any sports, the next day my muscle will cramp badly. And it caused me to walk like a cripple for 1 week! I’m not a sport-gifted guy.

5. I think i'm kinda a long-lasting guy in using things. I have a 5 years-old Ocean Pacific slipper and i'm still wearing it till today. My first handphone-Nokia 5210 and that is 6 YEARS AGO! And i'm still using it.

6. I just love to entertain people. Ahemm. Something i can boast. And dare say that i'm quite a spontaneous person in figuring out jokes on the spot. Beh SIAW Lee

Malaysia really Boleh!

Yeap! It has proven just 10 minutes ago that Malaysia still can retain the statement of Malaysia Boleh !! For those who miss it, nevermind. You are in the right blog with the accurate and latest news. Once again our new-born babies Koo Kien Keat-Tan Boon Heong won the Swiss Open in Men's Double Final ! Unbelievable? Ya! What an impressive match it was! Indeed it was not and easy victory over World-Ranking Number 2, Jens Eriksen/Martin Lundgaard from Denmark.

The first game was won by the Denmark with the score of 21-16. And i was like **Sigh**..."Xi Kan Kao Liaw"..However, the babies proved me WRONG! Miraculously, our babies with a sudden possessed by the spirit of their coach, Roxy Mainaky were able to make a quick turn back! . With a sensational come back for the second and third matches, 17-21 & 12-21!! Second titles (All England and Swiss Open) in just two weeks! Well done, guys !

During the Prize-Giving ceremony, both of the Denmark guys were disappointed. Both of them are old ok. 37 and 35 of age! Maybe they might learn some hokkien such as, "Xi Kan Kao Liaw ".

Malaysia memang Boleh!

Comments:

Thought u gonna say Kuching. Haha.

Malaysia memang boleh in men's double. But for men's single.. lets put it as 'no-leh'. Hah.

KKBH are the only players from Malaysia who are actually winning anything at all atm.

But the swiss open finals was...Sad. Msian open finals much nicer to watch! Mcm more unforced errors from both sides than real shots.

Badminton

Do you like to play badminton? I do!

Our new-born babies, World-Ranking 18, Koo Kien Keat-Tan Boon Heong have bring back the authentic meaning of "Malaysia Boleh". I've been waiting to see Malaysia's badminton players bring back the fame and create some histories in sports. Amazingly, here's come the two young super heroes, Koo Kien Keat(21)-Tan Boon Heong(19)!!

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

**Top-left :Tan Boon Heong (19 years old!!!!)
**Top-right: Koo Kien Keat (21 years old!!)

Few days ago was the All England Tournament, Kien Keat-Boon Heong showed great mastery in claiming back the All England Men's double title for the first time in 25 years! With an sensational score of 21-15, 21-18 win over the World Number 1, China’s Cai Yun-Fu Haifeng within 39 minutes at the National Indoor Arena in Birmingham. Do you know that China almost break the record in winning the whole final matches in the different tournament? Here comes our young Malaysian Double's to Make A Difference! Wuahaha..proud of them! Both of them have played together for only 5 months and guided by their coach, Roxy Mainaky, who was the former World Champion! Incrediblily, they have never failed in achieving good performance.

During the latest Swiss Open (after All England Tournament), beyong belief, Malaysia's Kien Keat-Boon Heong beat the World Number 1 China’s Cai Yun-Fu Haifeng AGAIN! **Shame Shame tsk tsk**.. And move on to another incredible victory over World-Ranking 5 Indonesian Doubles in Semi Finals!!

**Men's Double FINAL is on Sunday night. So please WATCH!!! Put aside all of your things that need to be done. And shout out "Malaysia Boleh" ok.

Now Malaysia only hope is in Men's Double. No more Men's Single. Players like Roslin Hashim, Lee Chong Wei and Wong Chun Han... sigh...Malaysia's fav. quote: " Xi Kan Kao liaw...( The time has come) " If only World Number 1, LinDan changed his career to basketball or football or ping pong, then we still can retain the Men's Single title. Hopefully this phrase won't imply to our new-born babies.

Malaysia still Boleh!!!

Someone simliar

I always wanted to publish this post, "Someone similiar." And finally! This happened last december at Singapore shopping mall. When I was chit-chatting with my new friends, suddenly a guy walked towards me. And my first reaction was.....STUNNED! Believe it onot, I saw a guy that look-alike with my another friend way back in Kuching. And I thought that that guy was trully him, AVERY!!! Imposible. How can avery follow me all the way to Singapore, unless he's in love with me~~

What happen next?

I'm smart..Blekz.! I took a photo of him after his approval. Unfortunately i've forgotten his name. This unknown guy looked 90% similiar to avery. The way both of them smile, the nose, the eye-brow..etc. Arr.. There's one saying,
"Seeing is believing".

Check it out!! **Don't get shocked**

For the past few years, a lots of my friends keep saying that I looked like some of the hollywood actor or taiwanese singer, but i don't even know how they look like. An interview with Rick Warren

I get to read a story regarding to an absolutely incredible interview with RickWarren,"Purpose Driven Life " author and pastor of Saddleback Church in California. His wife now has cancer, and he now has "wealth" from the book sales.

**Enjoy reading, friends. :) **

In the interview by Paul Bradshaw with Rick Warren.

Rick said: People ask me, What is the purpose of life? And I respond: In a nutshell, life is preparation for eternity. We were made to last forever, and God wants us to be with Him in Heaven. One day my heart is going to stop, and that will be the end of my body--
but not the end of me. I may live 60 to 100 years on earth, but I am going to spend trillions of years in eternity. This is the warm-up act - the dress rehearsal. God wants us to practice on earth what we will do forever in eternity. We were made by God and for God, and until you figure that out, life isn't going to make sense. Life is a series of problems: Either you are in one now, you're just coming out of one, or you're getting ready to go into another one.The reason for this is that God is more interested in your character than your comfort. God is more interested in making your life holy than He is in making your life happy. We can be reasonably happy here on earth, but that's not the goal of life. The goal is to grow in character, in Christ likeness.

This past year has been the greatest year of my life but also the toughest, with my wife, Kay, getting cancer. I used to think that life was hills and valleys - you go through a dark time, then you go to the mountaintop, back and forth. I don't believe that anymore. Rather than life being hills and valleys, I believe that it's kind of like two rails on a railroad track, and at all times you have something good and something bad in your life. No matter how good things are in your life, there is always something bad that needs to be worked on. And no matter how bad things are in your life, there is always something good you can thank God for. You can focus on your purposes, or you can focus on your problems. If you focus on your problems, you're going into self-centeredness, "which is my problem, my issues, my pain." But one of the easiest ways to get rid of pain is to get your focus off yourself and onto God and others. We discovered quickly that in spite of the prayers of hundreds of thousands of people, God was not going to heal Kay or make it easy for her. It has been very difficult for her, and yet God has strengthened her character, given her a ministry of helping other people, given her a testimony, drawn her closer to Him and to people. You have to learn to deal with both the good and the bad of life.

Actually, sometimes learning to deal with the good is harder. For instance, this past year, all of a sudden, when the book sold 15 million copies, it made me instantly very wealthy. It also brought a lot of notoriety that I had never had to deal with before. I don't think God gives you money or notoriety for your own ego or for you to live a life of ease. So I began to ask God what He wanted me to do with this money, notoriety and influence.

He gave me two different passages that helped me decide what to do, IICorinthians 9 and Psalm 72. First, in spite of all the money coming in, we would not change our lifestyle one bit. We made no major purchases. Second, about midway through last year, I stopped taking a salary from the church.Third, we set up foundations to fund an initiative we call The Peace Plan to plant churches, equip leaders, assist the poor, care for the sick, and educate the next generation. Fourth, I added up all that the church had paid me in the 24 years since I started the church, and I gave it all back. It was liberating to be able to serve God for free.We need to ask ourselves: Am I going to live for possessions? Popularity? Am I going to be driven by pressures? Guilt? Bitterness? Materialism? Or am I going to be driven by God's purposes (for my life)? When I get up in the morning, I sit on the side of my bed and say, God, if I don't get anything else done today, I want to know You more and love You better. God didn't put me on earth just to fulfill a to-do list. He's more interested in what I am than what I do. That's why we're called human beings, not human doings.

**Happy moments, PRAISE GOD.
Difficult moments, SEEK GOD.
Quiet moments, WORSHIP GOD.
Painful moments, TRUST GOD.
Every moment, THANK GOD.!!**

This is beautiful and food for the soul. A friend sent it to me, I shared it with you, now pick someone you want to bless. God loves you and so do I. Have a blessed Lord's day!

Barnyard Movie

Ever since weeks before i have my blog, i've planned to "promote" a new eyes-catching movie. During my last CNY visitation to one of my friends house, i get to watch another cartoon called BarnYard-The Original Party Animals. This movie is so so great! First of all, just to clarify your doubtfulness, i'm not working with Hollywood ok. And i'm not trying to be a marketer to promote their movie. Get it? Ok. Come back Johnson.

So, here's the poster.

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Attractive poster right! It shows there "Coming in 2006", but i'm not sure why untill now this movie aren't out yet in Malaysia. *sigh* I'm waiting... Anyway, if you manage to find this dvd, BUY IT! Comfirm you will never regret of it. And i'm 100% ensure that all of you yea, all of you will thank me for "promoting" this dvd.

This hows the dialogue goes.
You :Johnson, the movie was great! Thank CUTE for promoting it to me. I really don't know how to express my thankfulness to you, Johnson. Thank CUTE. Thank CUTE.
Johnson: You're welcome. (Evil laugh)..Haha

Here's some short clip of the movie. Enjoy watching with popcorn.

First week in degree

I have wasted TWO hours just to find the tag for the comment links! And finally it was done! Once again, my html skills increase 10%. haha

Last week was my first week in degree programme and i'm taking Civil Enginnering course. Guess what? Of cause i'm excited about it. But on friday 23/02/2007, during the registration for my degree, thought that the earlier i go, the earlier i can go back home. I mean cs-ing. However, wasting my whole day from 8am till 3pm just to register my tutorial class. What more to say that Swinburne is using the "New system" to key in. Teruk la...

First week in degree, one word to conclude it..Stress!! I have classes from afternoon to night time! Means that i have to cancel my guitar lesson on monday night. Why?! Sorry to chirs, bren and shawn yea. Don't stone me yea. I will enroll in other uni. Haha. And some of the tutes that i've attended were pretty boring. One of my subjects, Professional Engineering, I thought that we will learn about how to be a pro-engineer. Unfortunately, the lecturer is an aged man. And he has a papaya horse look, add on with tiger, lion, elephant, gozilla and mummy monster. His 2 hours tutorial was just _____ . How am i going to survive for this semester? But at least, my engineering maths lecturer & also my church member, Mrs Seibu Mary Jacob, makes her lecture time interesting!

Anyway, it is just the first week. Still hanging out with some of my crazy-addicted cs gang. Welcome new members, Ee sing, Wei tak & Melvin. Welcome welcome. I'm addicted to..not Cs, but Kampua mee. Arr...Nyam nyam, the one located at "Expert" cafe, Jalan Song. Wah, U-La-La. Nice la.!

Someone bring me there now! Anyway, going to start my second week on monday. Hope i will used to my new study schedule.
tata.
