AFL Hawks!
short-talk:Say byebye to Winter and welcome Spring! ------------------------------------------------------
Hey people! Millions of sincere apologies for my late update. Before I collapse soon, I better do a quick update of myself in case some of you might think that I was kidnapped by the Australians!
Time really flies. This is my third week of semester and I just handed in my two assignments yesterday. Hectic though! Meanwhile, I just got back from Kidshaper 'Sound' Conference not long ago. It's incomparably awesome and professional!
I was invited two days before to join the last night of this conference. If i'm not wrong, the entrance fee is $90 for the three ongoing days. Kidshaper Conference is basically a children ministry conference where leaders of children ministry all across Australia and will gather once in a year and be inspired plus challenged to reach out to God's children.
Next question. Why was I joining? No idea though. Since the admission for the last night was without charge, anyone can just hop in. My initial thought that Kidshaper Conference might be too young for old people like me, but when i stepped into the conference hall, 'W-O-W' was the first word that popped out from my mind and mouth!
I'm utterly amazed! Instead of having kids running around, I see 70% of the hall jam packed with senior parents! Words just can't describe how much and what i have captured throughout this one night. It's just so professional and spirit-led!
I mean, literally top-notch!! From the start till the end. The challenge, the dream, the vision, the band, the performance, the presentation, the short skit and so on...everything was just inspiring! I met a couple of people from Hillsong and Planetshakers too. *Nudge me in msn to share with you more!*
And also, i managed to grab a free Australian Football League (AFL) ticket during one of the International Student for Australia Culture Workshop for tomorrow's match !! Sounds cool yea! AFL is pretty similar to American football/rugby, instead the Australians refer it as Footy. The only difference that i can think of is the players in AFL do not wear helmet~
For sure as blurry as i am, I have no idea how does the complicated game go or the rules run, all i need to know is how to participate together with the crowds and keep yelling and shouting when they start shouting. Smart? Smart! Australians are just crazy about footy!
The AFL match that i'm going to watch is Hawthorn vs. Essendon. at 2.30pm. Which team am i supporting? Of course, Hawthorn la!! Since i'm staying in Hawthorn area and my campus is located at Hawthorn and bo pien, i'm forced to support the Hawks!! Haha..!!
Boo to Essendon..boo~~ Hawks rocks!!! Okay, what's more? In order for me to orient myself to the Australian footy culture and madness. I got myself some Hawks Supporter wears!
The Cap and the Scarf
I got it for free too! I'm ready! Let's hope that these supporter wears will be sufficient for me to be crazy with the crowds tomorrow and start yelling "Hawks Hawks Hawks!!!" Hopefully i got to grasp a taste of Footy contact!
haha.. You guys better cheer for Hawks k..lol..

Becoming a chef
short-talk:
I'm loving Multigrains Sandwich even more! Rich with fibre! Woot! =D
------------------------------------------------------------
Sorry for the late update. Paiseh lo...i'm pretty occupied with "vacation" here!
As mentioned in my previous post, eating out in Melbourne would definitely cost you a lot! Like it or not, it is still expensive even you try to avoid converting its currency rate. Hence, since last week, three of my friends and I have decided to do our own cooking for dinner whenever we can. We buy sufficient food on every weekend to sustain us for the following week and rotate duty with each other to cook for different night. To eat out in Melbourne for each meal would cost you around $9-10! That's Rm30 for just a bowl of food!!!
Of course, when it comes to cooking, I'm so enthusiastic for it! I was so keen and prepared to crow my rookie cooking skill! Yea, you got it clearly, Johnson CAN actually cook! My duty came on one of the nights! Prior to my first attempt, i tried so hard to reckon on what had my mum taught me before i came here. Having said that, it's relatively keen and astonishing when it comes to dinner cooking and cooking for others! because you couldn't predict what's the outcome of the food that we, newbie chefs can produce.
To make it sounds more challenging, I was given with limited resources to cook with only crab meat balls, vege and egg.
This's me!
*Don't laugh!* After an hour of tedious preparation plus cooking, i managed to knock up three impromptu dishes all by myself! *exhale*
Look delicious yea! It's not too bad though it looks slightly unexceptional, and nothing fancy to brag about but at least it's still eatable. I have tried to reckon on my mum's cooking recipe and rustle up something presentably and just simply add and mix around with different sauces spontaneously when there's no taste. Haha! Eh, it does taste nice at the end though!
That's pretty much of our meal for most of our dinner. We alternate duties to do cooking for each dinner.
Who knows, i might accidentally discover my potential in becoming a well known Chef in near future! lol..
Mum must be proud me now! lol...

His Business
short-talk:
I will devote myself to this one month mission -snapping as many shots of Melb dogs as i can- Don't you want to see? lol..----------------------------------------------------
Melbourne is having forceful typhoon since noon till midnight. Crazy! Seriously, i can't even walk a proper one metre straight line! And i did try many times though. I was gusted like a fragile jellyfish from left to right. Thank God that i'm heavy enough to withstand the strong wind, if not i will be a human kite soaring into the air. LOL
Just before i nod my exhausting body off on bed, I really feel like putting this continual thought of mine here. The one word which keeps spinning around my mind is this:
Why Business? As i reckon on after attending the Life Group at this evening, i'm so convinced once again that regardless of how exhausting it can be, how far the distance can be, how much breakthrough that it requires ..
God's business is indeed a Worth-Investing business of all time! It's an international business. Though i'm now taking up engineering course and not other business courses, still, this is a business i'm greatly interested in. It's a global business!!
Think of it.

Where's the cat?
short-talk:
Finally i got my Aussie number activated, just nudge me if you need it. ----------------------------------------------------------
G'day! How's it going? That's what all Aussies speak out when they meet you. It's quite peculiar to just abruptly leave a country with a heavy Mang-lish slang such as, "Lah..leh..loh...meh..mah..kah.." to a place where you can slightly find people utter these added words at the end of each sentence. People here speak relatively good English. Even when you chance on any Asian people, chances for them to speak with Aussie slang are pretty high. Instead of having brainwash, i think i gonna get a tongue wash soon. Hm..
Where's the cat? Yea, that's one curiousity i'm trying to sort out since my day one. I have been observing. Up to date, i have YET to find any cat on street. Not even one cat at all. Weird. What i notice more on contrary is dogs. However, the dogs here on street are exceptionally clean, neat, tidy and just benign compared to dogs in Kuching. The funny thing is, I have approached with a hand full of dogs for the past five days. And another thing that i have also noticed is ..
The dogs here NEVER bark! Not even once. Weird .. Firstly, no cats to be found in Melb street. Secondly, the dogs never bark. Probably, this is the best chance for me to get closer to dogs!
What a weird city though...lol

Update from Melb
short-talk:
If only Malaysia has the same currency as Australia .... the way i spend money will be slightly different for sure! =D
-----------------------------------------------------
Hey people! I can finally get my laptop detected to Swinburne wifi!! *hip hip hooray!* And with this, it means i do not need to subscribe to the monthly wireless $29 package. Thank God for orientating a perfect and good angle of my room location. 5 months of free connection!
Perhaps for some of you who might want to know how does Swinburne Hawthorn Campus look like, here is it. The building is just located directly opposite to my room.
Just right in front of the building is a train station. Looks pretty ancient yea. I haven't popped in on the building. Will do so on the coming Monday.
Then how about Johnson? How is he doing eh?
"hmmm.."
"uuhhmm..."
"Of course, i'm doing well!" =D
Just a quick update of myself, I managed to catch up with some of my Malaysian friends here. And had a great outing with my friends. Getting myself settled down, grabbing some good food and touring around the city. Snapping pictures around. Although it is just my third day, I find Melbourne is without a doubt a convivial plus eventful place to tour around.
