Swinburne Choir Orientation

Last saturday, Swinburne Choir Club performed "The Phantom of the Opera" during the March intake orientation. Unimaginable? Yeap! It was also my first experience to perform with the choir group on stage. We practiced for 3-4 days before the actual day. Frankly speaking, i'm not talented in singing. But i do enjoy singing all this while. Our choir conducter, Irene Yong (Smk Batu lintang Choir's apprentice wor...), did a marvellous job in training everyone of us to sing well and harmonize the song. I'm in the tenor section, and i received a lot of comments that i sang too loud during the practice. ErrGh.. Is not that i'm singing too loud, is just that you guys sing too soft... right kwan yang and aldrin?

Kinda like the spirit of our choir members. Could sense some of our members have thrown in a lot of their effort and energy during the practice section. Many of them who are rookies in singing, are willing to humble themselve to learn despite of their animals' voices, which includes me. **Cough cough**

During the actual day, i thought that we will perform infront of 50-60 new students only. But... What!! i'm wrong! We had to perform infront of more than 150 students!! Gossh..!! Excited but yet i'm nervous too! Johnson has stage-fright too ok. After thousands of practice, i believed that everyone were well-prepared, except for our tenor part. We always forgot the accurate tune for our intro..Ahhh..Ahh... During the singing presentation, standing infront of the millions and millions of audience, i'm NERVOUS! Have a feeling like singing in Sydeny Opera House. Ahemm... But i did admit that I was out of tune half way through the song. But what can i do? Yea, you're right! I were still acting cool.

My position in the choir club is not only singing, but i am known as the "durian-seller" too. Using my gifting to attract a lot of new members. Choir club slogan " If you can talk, you can sing!" thinked up by Johnson. Amazingly, 36 new contacts signed which included some of the international brothers. Praise God! I could sense that most of the clubs were envy of the numbers of new students visiting our choir table. Haha.. what to do? ...work hard then! haha..

Me! Shouting and promoting our club. "If you can talk, you can sing!!"
One of my dialogue to attract people joining our club,

Johnson : " I used to sing like a frog before i joined this choir club, but after i joined i sing..."
Aldrin: " sing like an Elephant !!! "..
What! Aldrin wong!

Although we did not perform with best vocal voice, but with days of practice, i believed that all of us did perform the best from our heart. Two things that i have captured, "1) Sing it with all of your heart. 2)Enjoy singing". Continue to keep up the work! This is not the end yet, but a wonderful start for us to build up the spirit of singing. More to come! All glory to God. God loves and bless you!

"A journey of a thousand mile, begins with a single step."
